Lenovo T400 / T500 :: T420 - Base System Device Driver Not Working On Windows 7
Jul 7, 2014After reinstalling W7 the lenovo solution center was complaining saying that the System Device Driver is not working. I saw that the SD card reader was not working neither so I assumend the missing driver was that one.
From the Lenovo page I dowloaded the driver for the Multi Card port for W7 and T420. After installing it the message dissapeared and the SD cards were recognized properly.
However, after rebooting the system, after a while, the mesage appeared again and the card reader stopped working.
I did install it again and the same happened. It was working and after two reboots stopped working.

Jun 22, 2012I have this as an 'other device' in device manager. I had to do a full reinstall a month ago but thought all the things were installed.
Also there is a second 'unknown device' with location 'on Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Embedded Controller' are these related or is this a second issue ?

HP Presario V3440TU OS/Software :: Base System Device Driver Missing
Jul 3, 2014I've just recently upgraded my system from XP to Win 7 and I've been unable to find drivers for two 'base system devices'. I'm on a Compaq Presario V3440TU and my CPU is a Core 2 Duo T5300, and chipset is Intel 945GM.
The missing drivers are most probably for the Ricoh Card reader in my laptop, since I remember facing the same problem while re-installing XP once...

HP Pavilion Dv5-1183cl OS/Software :: Missing Base System Device Drivers / Unknown Device / Battery Not Charging
Sep 7, 2014I have an HP Pavilion dv5-1183cl that has been upgraded from Windows Vista to Windows 7 Ultimate (32bit) and I have some issues.I have four errors showing up in my device manager, three Base System Device and one Unknown Device, and I don't know what they are or where to get the drivers (since I don't know what they are). Additionally, the battery will not charge (there does not appear to be anything wrong with it physically). I am wondering if the below errors are related to the battery issue. Below are the hardware IDs for each error entry.

Lenovo ThinkPad W Series :: W520 - Base System Device Driver Not Working
May 6, 2012This morning upon booting up my ThinkPad W520, the multi-card reader is no longer working. A look at the Device Manager (Windows 7, 64-bit) shows the 'Base System Device', and reports 'The drivers for this device are not installed.' Attempting to get Windows to natively install the drivers does not work. Some googling shows others with similar troubles in the past; recommendations include installing a Ricoh card reader driver for Windows XP or Vista; this did not work. Other available drivers include 8ass82ww.exe and 8axv51ww.exe - these do not work. Installing Lenovo's own Support Center software shows the Base System Device driver is not installed. I can't find a way to install it. I've tried installing driver exe files and searching for those same files using the Windows browse-for-files window when installing drivers for Base System Device.

Lenovo T400 / T500 :: How To Add Camera To T530
Oct 1, 2014I have just bought a T530 for my sister, which is due to arrive soon, but on closer viewing, I realise that it doesn't actually have a webcam. Looking at the pictures of the T530, it seems that the bezel doesn't have the necessary hole for the webcam to see out of. It looks like the space is completely filled in. Are all T530 front bezels the same? Is it possible that it is just some kind of blanking plate in the space where the webcam is behind, which can be removed?
I have been searching online but to no avail. I am not sure if I need to buy a whole new bezel for the T530 + a 720p camera (part number: 04W1364?)+ a viewing window to go in the bezel?
Here is the ebay listing of the T530 I have bought: [URL] .....

Lenovo X1 Series ThinkPad :: Base System Device
Aug 30, 2013I have a machine (used for creating master images) with all the drivers loaded. I perform a last CloneZilla image (before doing the sysprep). When I restore the image (to the same machine) the Ricoh Card reader has status of Base System Device under Other Devices. I have tried reapply the drivers, deleting the device with drivers and rebooting so that the machine can redetect the device. No luck, just stays at Base System Device.
Lenovo T400 / T500 :: T530 Fingerprint Reader Not Always Available
Jan 3, 2010Periodically, when trying to unlock my T530 using the fingerprint reader, the reader is unresponsive (green light not on), forcing me to log on using my Windows password. This only seems to happen when the machine is powered on and is locked. After logging on manually and rebooting, the problem goes away, but will periodically return when the machine automatically locks itself after 10 minutes of inactivity.
Lenovo T400 / T500 :: Fan Error After Booting Up T530
Aug 15, 2013Just 2 days ago I started recieving the error message 'Fan Error' after booting up my computer (T530). Before it gives me the message there is a loud beep noise. I'm going back to school soon and I'm hoping there is a way to repair this myself without buying a new fan. I'm really bad with operating on computers. I'm wondering if I just have to clean dust out of it or nudge the fan or something like that.
Lenovo T400 / T500 :: Battery For T530 Not Charging?

Lenovo T400 / T500 :: T530 Number Pad Functionality?
Apr 22, 2013One thing that I've always found frustrating about my Windows 7 T530 (which is nearly perfect for me in every other respect) is its apparent lack of a number pad. I use a lot of alt codes for typing non-standard characters, and these codes only work when typed through the number pad -- not through the number row near the top of the keyboard. I experimented with switching my keyboard over to the US International layout, but this broke some keyboard shortcuts that I use very often (plus it's a bit cumbersome in general) so I didn't find it to be a satisfactory solution.
Is there any way to get number pad functionality on a T530 short of attaching an external keyboard? It's a hassle to have to manually cut and paste special characters out of Character Map whenver I'm writing in languages that use accent marks. I count myself among those who wish that Lenovo had stuck with the old-style laptop keyboards rather than switching to the new chiclet ones, and this is one of the main reasons why. If I could get the number pad working on this thing then I would be overjoyed.

Lenovo T400 / T500 :: Cannot Enter BIOS Of ThinkPad T530
Sep 12, 2012I am unable to enter the BIOS (or the boot device and application menu) of my T530. When I press Enter at the 'Press Enter to interrupt normal startup' prompt, nothing happens. It just ignores my input completely. F1 doesn't do anything either.
Otherwise my ThinkPad is working fine, but I would like to change some settings (especially change the boot device, to boot from USB).

If you’re having the Base System Device driver problem, don’t worry. You can update the driver with one of the methods below. We’ve included three methods you can use to update the driver. Just choose an easier method to update your Base System Device driver.
- Update the driver via Device Manager
TIP: If you see more than one Base System Device listed in Device Manager, use one of the methods above to update the driver for each item.
Method 1: Update the Base System Device driver via Device Manager
You can update the drivers through manager. Follow these steps:
![System System](/uploads/1/1/8/5/118524930/161820741.jpg)
1) In Device Manager, right-click the device and click Update Driver Software….
2) Click Search automatically for updated driver software. Then Windows will search and find the driver for you.
3) Reboot your computer and check to see if the Base System Device driver issue is fixed.
Windows may not provide the latest driver for the device. If this way doesn’t work for you, you can use Method 2 or Method 3.
Method 2: Update the Base System Device driver manually
Usually, you can go to the device manufacturer’s website or the PC manufacturer’s website to download the latest driver. But for Base System Device, it is impossible to know what the specific device is. The good news is you can get its device name and its vendor name to determine what it is.
Follow steps below to get the device name and its vendor name.
1) In Device Manager, right-click the device and click Properties.
3) Click the Details tab, then select Hardware Ids from the drop-down menu of Property.
4) The Hardware Id Value should be like follows. The VEN code means vendor and the DEV code means device. (In the example below, the VEN code is 15AD and the device is 0740.)
5) Go to https://pci-ids.ucw.cz/. Then you can use the VEN code and the DEV code to figure out what the Base System Device stands for.
6) After you figure out what the device is, you can go to the PC manufacturer’s website or the device manufacturer’s website to download the driver. It’s recommended to go to the PC manufacturer’s website first, as they may customize the driver.
Method 3: Update the Base System Device driver automatically
Updating drivers manually requires time and computer skills. If you don’t have the time, patience or computer skills to update the driver manually, you can do it automatically with Driver Easy.
Driver Easy will automatically recognize your system and find the correct drivers for it. You don’t need to know exactly what system your computer is running, you don’t need to risk downloading and installing the wrong driver, and you don’t need to worry about making a mistake when installing.
You can update your drivers automatically with either the FREE or the Pro version of Driver Easy. But with the Pro version it takes just 2 clicks (and you get full support and a 30-day money back guarantee):
1)Downloadand install Driver Easy.
2) Run Driver Easy and clickScan Nowbutton. Driver Easy will then scan your computer and detect any problem drivers.
3) Click theUpdate button next to all flagged devices to automatically download the correct version of their driver, then you can manually install it (you can do this with the FREE version).
Base System Device Driver Lenovo T420
Or clickUpdate All to automatically download and install the correct version ofallthe drivers that are missing or out of date on your system (this requires the Pro version – you’ll be prompted to upgrade when you click Update All).
4) After updating the driver, check to see if you still see the yellow mark in Device Manager.
